Going to another country, and then asking to stay a bit longer is something that many people consider but it does not come without its tests and trials to ensure that you’re able to stay here for some time. You want to make sure that you’re able to get into the country, but you also want to make sure that you do this legally. Something known as an immigration biometrics test might be given to those that wish to stay within the country. While this might be intimidating, it is something that must be done to ensure that you can have a spot within the country.
Does Everyone Need This Test?
No, everyone does not need this test. When you fill out the application, you will notice that there is a section that states who does, and does not, need to take this test when they are applying to stay within the country. Note: the stipulations may change on this, depending on what is happening in the world when you apply to gain access to the country.
What Do I Have to Do for the Test?
You will have to get fingerprinted, and have a background check ran on you to find out any history that you might have with your home country, or any other countries. This is done right at the office when you go in, depending on whether or not you need this test. You will complete a form with your name, address, place and date of birth and other personal information on it for the records. Since you need an appointment to have this done, follow the instructions for making one through the directions given on the application when you’re filling it out. You will need to have a photograph taken of you during this visit.
When you arrive for your appointment, make sure to arrive dressed nice, and prepared with the required documentation that is requested of you. You should always show up a bit early, and read the instructions that came in the letter informing you of the appointment. There will be an office setting, and this is done usually in the country you’re currently residing in an Embassy or other government building. Make sure to give yourself enough time since you’ll likely be there for an hour or more during the testing phase, though it might take less time depending on the number of other applicants that are also waiting to take the test.
This process is important to ensure that there is documentation of who you are, so someone does not steal it, and of course to identify you if something should go wrong. This does not mean you will be denied entrance, or that you are in any sort of trouble. This is a process that you should be aware of, however if you’re trying to enter into another country that you were not born in. Going along with it ensures your safety, as well as the safety of others that may be in the country.
